The Myspace Bandwagon

Posted by ™E

Myspace is getting a lot of mixed reviews these days. You either like Myspace or you don't. I personally think the idea of a website profile that my friends can view to see what I'm up to is a great idea. I hate you Emo assholes who started all these chain surveys. YOU are the SOLE REASON Myspace is frowned upon.

1) Posting bulletins with suicide-related subjects "Last hope," "its over," "why am I still alive," "holding my breath," "lets give this one last shot," "about to give up"...you get the idea.

2) People...if I cared what the last thing you said aloud was...I'd ask, trust me. Posting links in bulletins to other sites that have you log-in to take a survey is just sad. I took a few minutes to visit a few of these sites prior to this post. When I see Firefox tell me that just blocked 8, 10, 15+ pop-ups...there's usually a little red flag that pops up in my head saying "maybe...just maaayybee, this is not a good site."

3) Gossip. When you answer the question "last person that touched you" with "________," is that not insinuating you two are doin' it?

4) Advertising. Now that all the "emos" have a place they can congregate...businesses got smart and put up some ads. Those "some" ads...have turned into many ads. When you take a survey, modify your profile, put videos, pics and such up on your profile by putting the code on your site...you are officially that company's bitch. You're theirs...they've got their name on your site. Oh yeah...that's not so gangsta is it?

5) WTFfactor. The WTFfactor as I call it...is that reaction when someone finds out you know more about them then they thought you did and realize you found out online. You'll shit bricks if you truly understood how easy it is to get information on people that use bad sites. "I got a new email address cuz my old one got so damn much spam." NO SHIT...oh and that time when you took that survey at #####.com and you had to create an account has nothing to do with it? Now #####.com has your email address and other information you supplied, your ip address (your computer's street address on the information suphighway called the internet,) and your internet browser version (to collect data on which browser should they exploit more.)

Ok...so if giving out information so that anyone will know everything about you is all the rage these days...leave me out. You people are wasting your time asking me to "join your Myspace Mafia" because of the fact that I'm above that, and so should you.
