The short answer is...yes. I stumbled upon a site today, promising their laptop can power up...INSTANTLY. I of course believe this to be superficial but it's a very promising idea. The "L Store" @ http://www.go-l.com has introduced a new spectrum to computing as we know it. I haven't read this site through yet but once I saw the Hollywood Pro 8x Multi-Core 17" Widescreen Notebook... I was convinced that there was a new bully on the playground. A notebook with Dual Quad-Core Intel® Xeon 53xx Series Processors is prepared to throw down with the big dogs.
